Plant Whisper
Known as an herbal remedy for relieving mild nervous tension and sleep disturbances, valerian is also called "stinkroot" because its roots emit a strong odor. Male cats find this very attractive: the scent from the roots is similar to the attractant used by female cats. Due to its relation to lamb's lettuce, the young leaves can be eaten as a salad and used as a flavorful ingredient in salads, soups, or pestos.

GOLDEN RULE for EVERYTHING: Eat only what you know! The rule applies: a handful of wild plants per person and day may be collected on public land. Use only washed plant parts that you can identify clearly – when in doubt, please refrain from using them.
TIP: One advantage of buying over-the-counter medicines from a pharmacy or specialist retailer is the expert advice on your symptoms.
