FLORA meets Rheinische Naturforschende Gesellschaft: Of Plants and Books

FLORA meets Rheinische Naturforschende Gesellschaft with Dr. Stefan Schneckenburger.

The "Gart der Gesundheit" ("Garden of Health", Mainz 1485) marks the beginning of the roughly 200-year age of the herbals (Kräuterbücher). Selected plants and the way they are depicted in these books, as well as in the beds designed for this series of events, are presented and related to the old texts and images. They leave their mark on literature – not least in the works of Shakespeare.

The meeting point is directly in front of the FLORA planting beds at the Naturhistorisches Museum, Reichklarastrasse 1 in 55116 Mainz.
