Making plants audible and letting flowers read poetry aloud: for the BERGFEST (the halfway celebration marking the exhibition's midpoint) of the exhibition FLORA – Wenn aus Wurzeln Wunder wachsen ("When Wonders Grow from Roots"), the Naturhistorisches Museum Mainz, the Gutenberg-Museum and Hochschule Mainz invite you to an evening for all the senses. In the outdoor part of the exhibition, visitors can explore floral experiments and artistic interventions that make plants tangible in unusual ways. Songs by Spurenelemente and herby snacks accompany the programme.

At the same time the new companion volume to the exhibition will be presented. The publication takes up the themes of FLORA, explores them in greater depth and extends them with additional digital material. The volume was financed with funds from the Stiftung Natur und Umwelt Rheinland-Pfalz. It is available in the Gutenberg-Shop for a nominal charge of 15 euros. Students and staff involved in the exhibition receive a copy free of charge.

The event takes place outdoors; shelter from rain is provided.

Our thanks also go to the Gutenberg-Stiftung, which is enriching the evening with wine and small delicacies, and to the Wildpflanzengärtnerei Strickler in Alzey. It is providing a selection of native plants that visitors can take home with them – while stocks last.
